The Department
The tax department at our client's firm is one of the largest in London, with around 30 lawyers including 7 partners, accounting for approximately 10% of the firm's personnel and revenue. Their size offers extensive expertise and influence, particularly in advising private equity, venture, credit, infrastructure, and real estate funds. They are a leader in private equity transactional tax, advising both financial sponsors and management teams, with expertise in structuring for infrastructure investments, capital markets, finance, and real estate.
Their tax lawyers combine technical knowledge with commercial awareness, providing a full range of advisory services that go beyond structuring to real-world implementation. Associates are expected to collaborate closely with internal and external clients, explaining tax issues and helping to find appropriate solutions.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Associate role in the Transactional Tax team will include:
- Advising on a broad range of tax matters including M&A, Finance, and Real Estate transactions, with a particular focus on Real Estate Tax.
- Managing matters with light-touch supervision.
- Advising on the tax aspects of private M&A transactions from the perspective of financial sponsors, corporate shareholders, management teams, and finance providers.
- Offering tax advisory work to corporate clients.
- Providing advice on financing transactions, real estate transactions, restructurings, and management equity incentives.
- Advising on IPOs and other fundraising and capital market transactions.
- Collaborating with other sub-groups within the Tax team, such as Asset Management and Incentives and Remuneration, when appropriate.
This is a transactional role that involves drafting and negotiating transaction terms and documents, along with advisory and structuring work.

Qualifications
: UK Qualified Solicitor with a strong academic record.

Experience:
Experience in transactional tax (M&A, Finance, Real Estate) commensurate with PQE level.
Substantive experience in Real Estate Tax is advantageous.

Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate proactivity and good transaction management.
