Time Appointments are delighted to be working on behalf of an International Freight Forwarders based in Ipswich who are recruiting for a Freight Forwarder to join their close-knit team.
The successful candidate will source, quote and secure new business from direct customers and Freight Forwarders to increase business turnover and profit, whilst maintaining Company standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Proactively look for new customers and hauliers to deliver and drive the operation forward outside the current work profile.
- Prepare and provide quotes to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
- Plan all activity for collections and deliveries across Europe based on customer requirements and provide relevant information to all key stakeholders.
- Maintain communication and control throughout all phases of the journey.
- Ensure customers are provided with effective collection and delivery updates.
- Manage any customs processes required for the import or export of customer goods.
- Maximise gross profit on all work using strong negotiating skills to achieve expected targets; with particular focus on the negotiation of prices with Carriers.
- Appropriately handle any insurance claims which are received in line with Company processes.
- Provide CMRs and any other necessary documents to customers as necessary.
- Maintain documents in line with the Quality Management system.
- Manage and arrange relevant invoice/account queries with the accounts team.
- Communicate with other team members to ensure full co-operation is available should opportunities arise.
- Maintain a close working relationship with customers and 3rd parties to ensure smooth operation deadlines.
- Maintain long term customer relationships alongside developing new ones.
- Provide out of hours / on call coverage as and when required to support the operation.
- Provide holiday cover for other team members
Skills & Experience Required:
- At least 2 years' experience within a similar role
- Multi freight system experience is ideal
- European experience required
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player
