Tax Semi Senior or Senior

Our client, based in Kings Hill, West Malling, has a permanent full-time opportunity for a Technical Tax Assistant/Semi-Senior. This is a great opportunity to work closely with and learn from our Director and Head of Tax.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm. Office based.

This role would be ideal for an ATT advisor who wants to be more hands-on with client work, or for an advisor who wants to take on a new challenge. Ideally from a professional practice background with experience of advising individuals and businesses. Whilst there may be a strong emphasis on personal taxes, all tax sections are equally heavily involved along with future business planning.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Working with Director and Managers on technical assignments/projects.
  • Oversee/liaising with clients, HMRC, working with the Director on successful delivery and planning solutions across both personal and corporate tax.
  • To meet new and current clients with the appropriate Director/Manager planning, researching and note taking of meetings and being a main point of contact with those clients going forward.
  • Research and find supportive information to support Director's decisions.
  • Assist with client relationship building providing an efficient, client focused and proactive service to meet the clients' needs.
  • Writing necessary letters/documentation supported by Director following in-house branding.
  • Providing support to our Accounts Manager and her team as and when necessary during busy periods assisting with tax questions such as CGT, IHT, income tax planning, and VAT to ensure all deadline dates are met.
  • Assisting Accounts Manager with providing analysis and forecast financial reporting; such as advising of potential issues, trends and improvements.

Key Skills and Qualities:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a professional accountancy environment.
  • To hold an ATT or formal tax qualification or qualified by experience.
  • Confident in engaging with clients to build a rapport and offer tax solutions and directions alongside the Director.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Able to work independently with appropriate support and concurrently managing a number of cases for clients.
  • Knowledge and use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and accountancy packages such as Xero and CCH.
  • Full driving licence.
