About the Role:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you have the skills and dedication to support pupils in a mainstream primary school setting? Academics is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term supply position in a vibrant primary school located in Fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with SEN.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement tailored learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, adapting strategies as necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting their social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals to ensure effective support for pupils.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and support pupils in following school policies.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in an SEN role.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with pupils.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the classroom.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
