Independent School Receptionist

A wonderful independent school in Central London is looking for an experienced Receptionist to work within their new Sixth Form Site. The school has a rich history, yet a modern and refreshing approach to education and how their students learn. This role will not only involve managing the reception and administration tasks, but also being the first port of call for the students and staff based in the Sixth Form building. This is for an August start, with interviews commencing June 2024.

Experience in a school reception role is required, as is the ability to work well under pressure and multitask effectively. The most important pre-requisites however, are the ability to form strong connections with both staff and students, and being warm and personable. You will be a point of contact for the Sixth Form students, who may come to you with worries, concerns and issues. You will need to be able to listen, help problem solve, and know when to escalate issues/concerns. You will also be able to liase with members of staff from all departments, working collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • Be a friendly face for all students
  • Manage phone lines, direct calls, and take messages accurately.
  • Respond to emails and forward to the relevant people when necessary
  • Maintain records and update databases
  • Assist in coordinating school events and activities.
  • Support administrative staff with various tasks and projects.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and welcoming at all times.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Receptionist role within a school (1 year)
  • A warm and personable manner
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong IT skills, good understanding of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Able to multitask and work to deadlines
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • An enhanced DBS on the OUS
