1:1 Teaching Assistant

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant (TA) - Full-Time - in Bradford, in September 2024.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN TA to join our team at a welcoming and friendly primary school in the heart of a community in Bradford. This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting children with SEN, particularly those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on a 1:1 basis with students who have ADHD to provide tailored support and assistance.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment that accommodates the individual needs of SEN students.
  • Implement Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and support strategies as directed by the SENCo and class teacher.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, providing emotional and academic support.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, reporting back to the SENCo and parents as required.
  • Collaborate with the SENCo and other staff to ensure the well-being and progress of SEN students.
  • Adapt teaching materials and methods to cater to the unique learning styles of SEN students.
  • Assist in managing any challenging behaviours and implementing behaviour management strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching and Learning).
  • Proven experience working on a 1:1 basis with SEN students, specifically those with ADHD.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEN and ADHD, including common support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with students.
  • First Aid and Safeguarding training (desirable).
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
