Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to install, maintain, improve, and repair equipment, plant, and services in compliance with best practices. This role ensures production efficiency meets customer requirements within a safe, well-presented facility. The Maintenance Engineer will respond to technical issues affecting production and maintain electrical and mechanical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). You will work on various phases or sub-tasks of projects, impacting project completion, under general supervision, with reviews at project milestones and/or on completion by Senior Management.

Key Responsibilities:

Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and solve problems to minimise production downtime.

Diagnose faults, maintain, and repair all types of plant and equipment safely, promptly, and professionally, returning equipment to operational service.

Estimate job completion times and understand the consequences of failing to meet deadlines.

Identify and escalate any activities that may cause harm or damage.

Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management.

Ensure all work meets high-quality standards and adheres to quality regulations.

Meet company targets for the quality of produced parts.

Identify spares requirements and log usage.

Assist in developing and executing PPM schedules.

Provide feedback to improve the PPM system.

Assist with moving, installing, and repositioning machines and equipment.

Utilise the computerised maintenance management system effectively.

Plan and prioritise workload to support production and ensure efficient time use.

Log work completion on required maintenance management systems.

Assist visiting specialist engineers as necessary.

Ensure contractors are utilised according to company procedures.

Maintain a high workplace standard using the 5S methodology (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain).

Use personal protective equipment correctly and report associated problems to management.

Report all lost time, minor, and trivial accidents.

Promote environmental issues and follow all company procedures.

Stay current with manufacturing and engineering trends related to maintenance.

Undertake special projects as required.

Contribute to continuous improvement activities.

Ensure quality control of work through appropriate reviews.

Support and lead improvement activities.

Write reports and present progress at project meetings.

Achieve goals within budget.

Plan projects or subtasks for tracking and presentation.

Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.

Undertake continuous training and development.

Independently determine approach and tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:

ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ Level 3 qualification.

Practical hands-on problem-solving approach.

Background in mechanical, electrical, electronic, or software engineering.

Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Experience with CNC machinery.

Commercial understanding of the impact of failure/downtime on production and customer delivery.

Shift Pattern :

0745 - 5pm Monday to Thursday

0745 - 1 pm on Friday
