Assistant Accountant - Study Support - Career progression
I am delighted to be working with a market leader manufacturing business based in Teesside in recruiting an Assistant Accountant role. This is a development role offering development and succession planning for the successful candidate. The Assistant Accountant can also expect to receive study support as part of their package.
Duties/Responsibilities:
As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Post all bank transactions
- Daily bank reconciliation, outstanding debts reporting and treasury reporting to group
- Process and administer the Concur Expenses / Credit Card software
- Support Accountants during month end accounts including assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journal postings, data compilation and analysis
- Support Accountants to provide information to Internal and External Audit, information for Forecasts and Budgeting and other reporting requirements.
- Supplier Statement reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support the Business units including assisting production of regular internal reporting
- Provide Assistance and Absence cover to Accounts Payable including posting invoices and liaising with suppliers and internal colleagues on queries.
- Provide support to payroll team specifically for adhoc exercises, audit requests and providing some emergency assistance to cover absence by learning key processes.
You will be/have:
As the Assistant Accountant, you will be/have:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under time constraints and deadlines, prioritising own workload.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Excellent Communication skills
- IT literate, with experience of ERP systems
- Advanced MS Excel skills desirable, but minimum requirement is good working knowledge of MS Excel, including ability to create reports/analysis in addition to updating complex pre-built reports
- Qualified or working towards AAT level 4 qualification
- Alternatively gained a relevant accountancy degree and have gained minimum 2 years post degree experience in an accounts/finance department.

- Salary - £30,000 to £35,000
