The Role
We're seeking a talented Town Planner to support strategic land promotion and development activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about driving sustainable growth and contributing to key projects that shape communities. Support strategic land development initiatives and manage key planning activities to unlock housing and commercial opportunities.
Key Activities and Opportunities for Development
- Drive land promotion through planning processes to secure land allocations for development.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, handling appeals as required.
- Collaborate with the Land team to assess site layout, constraints, and project feasibility.
- Manage reserved matters planning applications and track the discharge of planning conditions and S106 agreements.
- Liaise with landowners, monitor Local Plan documents, housing land supply, and competitor activity.
- Engage communities on site promotions and planning applications to foster support and transparency.
- Develop project viability and delivery skills, while preparing monthly progress reports.
- Contribute to planning strategy development, exploring diverse project options.
- Oversee budgets and manage consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, statutory bodies, and local communities to resolve issues.
Who Will You Work With?
- Internal: Strategic Land, Technical, Commercial, and Management teams.
- External: Landowners, land agents, local planning authorities, town councils, and consultants.

- Commercial awareness of project contractual obligations to optimize resource allocation.
- Sound forecasting skills and the ability to secure best value with consultants.
- Innovation in problem-solving and project management.
- In-depth understanding of planning policy, Local Plans, housing supply, and land agreements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to Health and Safety standards.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years in a relevant planning role (local authority, housebuilder, or consultancy).
- A degree in planning or a related field; support offered for professional accreditation (RTPI/RICS).
- A full driving license is essential.
