Management Accountant

Reed Finance are working with an exciting organisation based in Edinburgh seeking a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This role is integral to the delivery of the month-end process and requires a candidate with a strong background in financial analysis and management reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing management accounts, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as contributing to financial modelling that supports key business strategies.
Day to Day of the role:
- Deliver the month-end process, including preparation and review of journals, management accounts, and variance analysis against budget and forecast.
- Own the balance sheet reconciliations for the business partnering team.
- Utilise insights from monthly variance analysis to prepare rolling forecasts for the Commercial departments.
- Investigate month-end variances through data collection and analysis from various sources.
- Contribute to financial modelling to support and challenge business strategies and decisions.
- Liaise with external auditors to ensure the completion of the annual audit.
- Support the planning and execution of the annual budget and reforecasts processes.
- Monitor the monthly financial performance by attending weekly business performance meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Recently or Part Qualified Accountant (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience,
- Excellent IT skills, including MS Office and a good working knowledge of accounting systems.
- Ability to analyse diverse financial data and produce concise analysis and recommendations.
- Experience in management reporting, planning, and budgeting.
- High levels of drive and personal commitment to achieve success.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels within the finance team.
