Planning Team Leader

The Planning Team Leader will be responsible for a team providing expert planning and project programming services to the Project Managers and clients through all phases of planning of projects in Major Projects and Infrastructure through to project completion.

You will be responsible for leading and developing a team and manage and support the delivery of projects across specific business area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 6 planners to ensure successful delivery of planning activities and company goals.
  • Manage teams' performance, objectives and setting goals.
  • Develop planning practices and processes for Major Projects.
  • Develop and create Major Projects programmes - for unique buildings with complexity of delivering to Central London.
  • Ensure that program related risks are understood and effectively managed to support our client's business.
  • Produce and manage complexed tender programmes.
  • Production and control of schedule baseline, fully logic linked, cost and resource loaded plans.
  • Work with the project team and minimise company risk by identifying the critical path for contracts.
  • Ensure plans are updated to an agreed timeframe.
  • Co-ordinate and production of reports to a defined reporting cycle.
  • Produce analysis indicators and provide feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
  • Resource planning, maintaining workload scheduling, minimizing contractual abatement.
  • Conduct regular site visits with the Project Managers.
  • Liaise with contractors / site workers and updating info on a daily basis.
  • Timely submission of the Baseline and site plans to meet contractual requirements.
  • Create and monitor of KPIs and production of weekly/monthly dashboards and reports.

Key Skills & Experiences:

  • Proven team management and development experience.
  • Project management skills with ability to prioritize and deliver to deadlines.
  • Detailed understanding of planning and construction methodologies, techniques site logistics and phasing plans.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Construction industry experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to create tender programmes.
  • Good negotiation, interpersonal and persuasive skills.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels.
  • Understanding contractual differences (NEC, JCT)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software; A-site, Asta, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and SAP
