Location: Southend/ Westcliff Job Type: Full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract (potential for permanent position) An award-winning legal firm in Southend is seeking an Accounts Administrator/Legal Cashier to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an accountancy setting and be excited to receive comprehensive training to understand SRA accounts rules.

Day to Day of the role:

Processing bills and maintaining ledger accuracy. Conducting client to office transfers. Handling client and office account payments, including cheque production and telegraphic transfers. Posting legal aid transactions and managing related processes. Checking and balancing client completion statements and probate statements. Calculating interest and ensuring compliance with money laundering regulations. Assisting with daily bank reconciliations and managing outstanding receipts. Managing petty cash, processing and paying expenses. Assisting with purchase ledger transactions and general banking duties. Performing analysis and ad hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Manager. Providing cover for accounts staff during absences. Ensuring strict adherence to Solicitors Accounts Rules and firm policies. Maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience in a legal accounting and finance setting is preferred but is not mandatory Working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules is advantageous although full training will be offered. Proficiency in electronic banking and transaction processing. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial matters. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently. Good communication skills and a team player.
