Infrastructure Support Engineer

Techunite Ltd are recruiting for an experienced Infrastructure Support engineer to join a successful and growing MSP based in London. An MSP background is preferred due to the fast-paced environment and busy service desk operations.

This is mostly a remote role to begin with (with access to a coworking space in London which someone needs to be open to going to occasionally). In the next 12 months the company anticipate getting a permanent office in the Redhill / Gatwick area which will be hybrid (2-3 times a week in the office).

You will have a huge array of support available to you from the service delivery manager and project engineers.

What you will be doing in the role:

  • Hardware and Software solutions for including Microsoft Windows (8, 10 & 11) & Apple OS, Office & Microsoft365, Active Directory, remote access, Disaster Recovery & backup.
  • Management and support to an appropriate level; servers, networking, SAN infrastructure, virtualised solutions, security, Azure.
  • Responding to alerts, ITSM and security tools, together with day-to-day management of client solutions such as Azure Backup and Site Recovery, VMware and supporting SAN storage etc.
  • Delivering support responses and technical resolutions in a timely manner in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Assisting in updating and deploying existing and new technologies / installation guides and ensuring client documentation is up to date.
  • Customer site visits in London when required.

Key Skills and Experience required:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working working on a busy service desk

  • Technical skill set across (at 2nd Line level):

  • Microsoft Windows (10 & 11) & Apple OS

  • Microsoft Server (2012, 2016, 2019 & 2022)

  • Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Forms, PowerApps/Flow, PowerBI, Intune/Endpoint Manager/Autopilot)

  • Microsoft AD, Windows Server, Exchange Server, RDS

  • Hosted Telephony Administration (RingCentral/8x8)

  • Server & SAN solutions (Dell/HPE)

  • Backup & DR (Microsoft/Veeam/BackupExec/Azure)

  • Basic Virtualisation Management (VMware/Hyper-V)

  • Basic Networking (Cisco/HPE/Dell)

  • Basic Firewall Administration (Cisco/WatchGuard/Fortigate)

  • Basic Microsoft Azure

  • Microsoft PowerShell & Scripting would be beneficial

  • Demonstratable capability with troubleshooting experience and dealing with 1st Line escalations.

  • Any understanding of, ITIL v3/v4 principles of Change and Release Management, Service Introduction, Service Asset and Configuration Management would be beneficial.
