Hays Accountancy & Finance are pleased to be supporting a Norwich-based organisation in their search for an experienced payroll clerk to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract as they are looking to strengthen their new payroll team.
Your new role
In this newly created Payroll Clerk job, you will be responsible for supporting the payroll team in setting up new starters and closing payroll files for any leavers or making amendments to current workers. The organisation runs a monthly payroll, so you will check the payroll data prior to payment, which will include P45's, / P46 forms, bank details and prepare salary deductions regarding NI, SSP, SMP, salary sacrifice, attachment of earnings, allowances, expenses / overtime etc, as well as checking any pre-employment checks with the HR teams.
As part of the payroll team, you will assist managers with any payroll queries and produce payroll reports, so confident IT systems and communication skills are essential as you will also be responsible for pension queries.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience of processing a payroll and be aware of payroll legislation including annual PAYE legislation, statutory regulations and HMRC reporting to include Real Time Reporting. As this is a busy payroll department, you will be highly organised, confident in person and able to commit to a 12-month contract. We will also consider applications from candidates who are looking for permanent payroll jobs.
What you'll get in return
The organisation offers a competitive salary of circa £25,000 - £28,000 depending on experience, flexible hybrid working and, as explained, this will be a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of an extension or permanent appointment.
