Internal Controls Manager

Trinity House Group are excited to be supporting a highly acquisitive Private Equity backed business based in North Birmingham to recruit an Internal Controls Manager for a newly created role.

This is a superb time to join the business and will see you driving the campaign to implement an enhanced controls environment across the group. You will work collaboratively across the Group and Divisional finance teams business partnering stakeholders at all levels, therefore excellent communication skills and the gravitas to influence is critical.

Internal Controls Manager responsibilities include:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and ongoing compliance through sharing best practice
  • Design / implement / improve controls to mitigate risks working in collaboration with Divisional stakeholders to drive an improved control environment
  • Document and map financial processes and activities currently in place including the risks and associated controls
  • Create improvements plans to remedy potential control deficiencies
  • Develop an internal assurance plan to ensure ongoing monitoring and maintenance providing evidence of effectiveness of the control environment
  • Monitor regulatory and governance changes, alongside industry best practice and adapt internal controls accordingly
  • Liaise with multiple departments to ensure a cohesive approach across regulatory and governance changes.
  • Work closely with external auditors as part of their controls testing, supporting with the provision of evidence and agreement on recommendations

Internal Control Manager Skills & Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Either industry or Practice trained with experience ideally within a corporate environment
  • Experience in financial controls management, internal audit, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and corporate governance standards
  • Track record of leading change initiatives, driving process improvements, and implementing control enhancements in a complex environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
