1st Line Support Technician

1st Line IT Support Technician required by one of the largest multi-academy trusts in the UK. Our client has around 100 IT professionals over 50 different locations and have recently invested over 3 million pounds into new modern IT systems consisting of Microsoft and Cisco. Our client operates a sector leading IT provision across over 50 schools and academies utilising enterprise technology via a private national Wide Area Network.

The successful person should be ideally located in Bristol and this role if offered on a hybrid basis. Working hours are Monday-Friday 0800-1600 with one in 3 weeks doing 11:30-7:30pm - which can be done entirely from home.

The successful 1st Line IT Support Technician will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st line hardware and software support as part of the service desk including support of networks, desktops and servers and laptop hardware and software.
  • Be the first point of contact for customers over the phone and face-to-face and escalate calls to 2nd and 3rd line teams when necessary.
  • Administration of user accounts, reset passwords, assign permissions and manage group policies.

Key skills and Experience

For this role, 6 months or 1 year of experience is sufficient, however candidates who do not have experience but have a desire and passion for IT with any IT qualifications such as: CompTIA A+, N+, MCP etc can also be successful for this role. Other key skills which will be good to have are:

  • Windows 10 and Office 365 - good working knowledge
  • Computer Hardware and Software - good working knowledge
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN -good working knowledge
  • Good customer service skills - demonstrated from IT or non-IT roles
  • Troubleshooting hardware such as Printers, Scanners, Laptops and PCs.

Typical work in this role will involve projects around Active Directory Grouping, Ordering Mobile Phones, Answering Calls, Working with Mobile Device Management - JAMF, working with Apple Devices such as iPads and iPhones, Cisco Telephone switches and VLANs - Full Training will be provided on these things and anything else for the successful person!
