We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to join a dynamic team. You will be the standalone specialist as part of the wider team. The primary objective of this role is to deploy and monitor data science workflows, ensuring performance, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness. This is a pivotal role within the infrastructure team, working closely with data scientists to meet the evolving business needs of their organisation.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Collaborate with a team to create and maintain the data science infrastructure.
  • Deploy and monitor data science workflows, ensuring they meet agreed quality and timescales.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, maintaining communication with the line manager, project team members, and stakeholders about workloads, issues, and progress.
  • Demonstrate best practices and behaviours to foster a positive, productive, and inclusive working environment.
  • Interact with the executive team, project teams, and external collaborators to support project delivery.
  • Contribute to the general duties of the company and share skills and knowledge with team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with AWS.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, VPC, EC2, Batch, and Lambda.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Proficiency in scripting using bash and Python.
  • Knowledge of current software development methodologies e.g., Scrum/Agile, CI/CD, Concurrent Version Systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience managing AWS accounts using Control Tower and Organisations is desirable.
  • Experience in monitoring and profiling code is desirable.
  • Experience with statistics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence is desirable.
  • Experience running Nextflow pipelines on AWS is desirable.
  • Previous experience in developing, deploying, and/or maintaining web user interfaces and/or REST APIs is desirable.
  • Experience with database management systems is desirable.
  • Organised thinker and problem-solver with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
