Senior Quantity Surveyor

Working from our Larkhill project office, you'll be part of an experienced and supportive Commercial Team helping to deliver an exciting variety of Capital Projects. So, this means that you must have strong communications skills, and be able work well with others.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will lead on the commercial aspects for your projects from pre-construction activities through to agreement of final accounts. You will support the Commercial Team in the maintenance of robust cost and revenue forecast.

Other responsibilities of this role include:

  • Visit sites and carry out surveys as necessary to assist the Pre-construction Team in the preparation of schedules, specifications, and scopes of works
  • Liaise with the Procurement Team through the tender process and assist in the analysis of tender submissions and preparation of Joint Recommendations
  • Produce cost plans, estimates and formal client submissions for your projects
  • Provision of necessary information to Central Commercial and Finance Teams
  • Visit sites and carry out surveys as necessary to assess the progress of works to validate supply chain invoices and requests for payment
  • Review Supply Chain quotations and variations to ensure value for money
  • Administration of project variations/instructions and the management of contingency and risk budgets
  • Administration of Supply Chain orders and payments in a timely manner
  • Ensure projects are commercially managed in full compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the Commercial Team

You should have a minimum of ten years experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Building Contractor, preferably in PFI and/or public sector service FM contracts.

You will be educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying and have membership of a relevant professional body, such as RICS.

In addition to being a commercial thinker who is flexible and pragmatic, essential skills to have include;

  • Good competency in using Microsoft Office software and an aptitude to learning to work with other bespoke systems.
  • Commercial awareness across all business operations coupled with financial acumen,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Ability to plan and prioritise activities and close out in a timely manner,
  • High attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent high quality work within acceptable timescales.
