Homeless Prevention Officer - Complex Needs

The Housing Team are looking for a proactive / self motivated person to work within the Team to provide advice to people with complex needs who are in housing crisis. You will be working with other dedicated Housing Professionals:

  • In a fast passed, professional environment
  • Providing advice and support to our most vulnerable group of clients
  • With the aim of preventing homelessness where possible

About the role...

The Homeless Prevention - Complex Needs Officer role will provide comprehensive homelessness prevention advice to applicants with complex needs on behalf of Cotswold District Council. The Homeless Prevention - Complex Needs Officer will work with applicants to find solutions to their housing difficulties and thereby prevent homelessness occurring.

The role will include implementing the provisions of the Councils Choice Based Lettings scheme and the Homelessness Reduction Act by working closely with the customer and a range of partner agencies to prevent homelessness occurring by:

  • Undertaking assessments relating to support needs, housing issues and Duties owed under Homelessness legislation
  • Managing a caseload of clients with changing and often conflicting priorities
  • Whilst motivating and enabling clients to source solutions to thier housing crisis
  • Working with multiple partner agencies, both internal and external to find the best outcomes for the person

You will need...

  • Experience of working in a Housing, Supported Housing or Homelessness focused service
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people
  • Experience of working with people with complex needs
  • Experience of working in an office based environment and as part of a team
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Experience recording and dealing with data accurately and effectively
