Retail Property Acquisitions Surveyor Fully Remote

As a Property Acquisitions Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the group wide acquisition of the company's property portfolio in line with the company's expansion programme and the identification of potential opportunities.

In addition to acquisition, you'll be responsible for negotiating and agreeing the location, rent and size of properties. Essential to this task is sound managerial judgement to negotiate final costs.

Our client is a prominent British retail organisation, founded in the 1940s, with a portfolio of over 400 units across the UK. These locations include High Street, tourist, and destination sites, with a primary focus on fashion and home products.

Description

  • Oversee the performance of the New Stores Team
  • Take responsibility for the acquisition of new stores, negotiating and agreeing the location, rent and size of properties. Essential to this task is sound managerial judgement to negotiate final costs
  • Presenting opportunities to Directors to gain approval for the selected stores and make recommendations, as appropriate
  • Be responsible for appointing external consultants in relation to professional issues. Thereafter maintain regular liaison, instructing and managing their performance and agreeing remuneration levels
  • Identifying opportunities in new stores for subletting surplus space and thereafter for ensuring that these deals happen to time and budget
  • Identifying opportunities to acquire new businesses to add to the group portfolio. Presenting such opportunities to the Directors and undertaking property due diligence
  • Identifying and exploiting development opportunities for the business where "one off" profits can be achieved at the same time
  • As part of the store site selection process, undertake extensive travel, wherever the need exists
  • Assume accountability for the preparation of the property administration cost control and budget
  • Ensure direct reports are developed, trained and reviewed

Profile

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar role - within retail/commercial industry would be highly beneficial
  • Property Acquisition - Knowledge of property markets, valuation, and acquisition processes.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills
  • Strong financial acumen - budget management
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Flexibility to travel across the UK in a field based role
  • Full driving licence - company car is provided
