Recovery and Collections Specialist

Salary: Up to £45,000 + 10% Bonus

Location: Manchester

Hybrid 2 days in office, 3 days at home

We are looking for a Recovery Manager to manage a small portfolio of commercial borrowers facing challenges such as loan servicing issues, security risks, or exit risks. In this role, you will support the Head of Collections and develop appropriate risk strategies to achieve commercially balanced solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the credit relationship for customers in stressed or distressed situations, implementing turnaround and recovery strategies to minimize credit risk.
  • Demonstrate expertise in recovery and business restructuring, working with professional advisors to achieve optimal outcomes for borrowers.
  • Support and lead credit discussions with borrowers, securing approvals for exposures and collaborating with management teams and key stakeholders.
  • Analyse information from borrowers or advisors, perform robust situation analyses, and formulate turnaround/recovery/restructuring strategies.
  • Visit customers to discuss issues, develop relationships, and create strategies to address concerns.
  • Make clear and supported credit recommendations, including loan restructuring, and monitor management information and documentation requirements.
  • Develop relationships with external suppliers such as Insolvency Practitioners, Receivers, Lawyers, Valuers, and other professionals.
  • Maintain strong industry knowledge across all asset types, sectors, and regions.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance outcomes for customers and the business.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in credit risk and / or workout roles in SME and commercial lending
  • Knowledge of credit management & recovery strategies
  • Knowledge of the commercial & residential lending market
  • Strong relationship management & negotiating skills
  • Proven analytical skills with a strong working knowledge of risk control
  • Strong communication & presentation skills
  • Good understanding of financial accounts, schedule of works & cash flow forecasts
