Day to Day of the Role:

  • Deliver a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated mathematics curriculum to students.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher and form tutor.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which enables students to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment and share in the academy's drive for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in curriculum development and contribute to departmental planning.
  • Engage in staff development activities and fully participate in the Performance Management Review process.
  • Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral support and guidance to students.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Experience in teaching mathematics at secondary level, ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and within an 11-18 school setting.
  • Understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain positive relationships with all staff.
  • Proficient ICT skills, with experience in using interactive whiteboards preferred.
  • Ability to create a motivating and safe learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong leadership, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate students and raise their aspirations through various strategies.
