Children's Social Worker - Duty and Assessment
- Annual Salary: Up to £43,438 including £2,000 retention supplement (depending on experience)

We are seeking experienced Children's Social Workers to join our Duty and Assessment Teams in Doncaster. This is a pivotal role for qualified social workers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and their families. Day-to-day of the role:
- Undertake procedurally compliant assessments and Section 47 enquiries, identifying levels and types of risk or need based on documented evidence.
- Record and analyse information gathered during social care assessments in line with policy, guidance, and best practice principles.
- Develop clear plans to address issues identified for children in Doncaster.
- Engage with children, their carers, and families to understand their circumstances, wishes, and feelings, directing longer-term interventions focused on the best interests of the child.
- Take and record children's contacts and referrals, understanding the issues referred, the urgency, the level of risk or need, and the action needed.
- Prepare court statements and reports as required by the courts and bodies in connection with children's services.
- Work alongside colleagues to provide social care advice and interventions across Doncaster Council and all agencies.
- Prioritise work in line with urgency, levels and types of risk and/or need, ensuring that children are safe and that their needs are met.
- Engage in support of colleagues, understanding and working within established processes and advising less experienced staff members.
- Represent the service in multi-agency meetings and forums as appropriate.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- BA or MA in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Experience working with children and families as a qualified social worker.
- Ability to build strong relationships and to write high-quality assessments.
