Job Description: We are looking for an experienced carpenter to undertake a variety of tasks in social housing projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
Responsibilities:
- Perform carpentry work related to the construction and repair of social housing units.
- Install, repair, and replace doors, windows, cabinets, countertops, and other wooden fixtures.
- Ensure all work meets building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals and tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to tenants and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in a social housing context.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, materials, and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have a certification or diploma in carpentry.
- Experience working in social housing or a similar environment.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
