About the role

Here at Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, we are now on the lookout for a Surveyor - someone to ensure an excellent, reactive repair/planned maintenance service is delivered and void properties are maintained within budget, whilst developing and maintaining a robust knowledge of the property portfolio.

Working closely with and assisting our in-house Building Services team in delivering and developing programmes of work and high-quality repairs, you'll need a good understanding of the condition of properties and the local conservation area environment and neighbourhoods to contribute to the development of improvement programmes, estate repairs and the sustainability of communities.

Assisting the Customer Services team in resolving complex technical issues to achieve excellent customer satisfaction, you'll assume "cradle to grave" responsibility for the planning, implementation, and overall management of projects within the housing and care improvement programmes and provide assistance to the Planned Maintenance Manager and/or Repairs Manager in the delivery of the improvement plan and other related duties.

About you

As our Surveyor, we'd like you to hold a recognised qualification in a building related subject (NVQ, HNC, City and Guild, Diploma, RICS, CIOB, RIBA) or equivalent work experience. You'll have sound understanding of domestic construction techniques and materials, fault diagnosis and specification of remedial work. With knowledge and experience of health and safety and statutory compliance requirements, including understanding of multi-skilled trades, gas and electrical compliance and site supervision, you'll have experience of managing contractors and repairs budgets.

You'll be an excellent communicator, able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences, maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners with experience in delivering a customer focused service and commitment to improving customer service and engagement. Competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and housing asset management software systems, you'll be able to work independently, empowered to be self-directed with minimal supervision meeting key targets and performance indicators.
