My client in Basingstoke is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their team on a temporary contract with the strong chance of a permanent role for the successful candidate.

Description
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Support the finance team with month-end closing activities, including journal entries and account analysis.
- Maintain and update financial records using the Xero system, while transitioning to SAP as part of the company's system upgrade.
- Process invoices, reconcile accounts, and assist with general ledger maintenance.
- Support in the preparation of VAT returns, financial reports, and other regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth financial operations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the finance team as needed, including preparing financial analysis and assisting with audits.
Profile
- Proven experience in balance sheet reconciliation and general accounting processes.
- Proficiency in Xero is essential, and experience with SAP is highly advantageous.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
