About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Internal Communications Team within our Corporate Affairs Department as an Events and Communications Executive on a 12-month FTC. You will lead and deliver strategically driven internal and external events to strengthen the HL brand and drive colleague engagement. You will be responsible for developing HL's events programme and will deliver award-winning events through collaborative stakeholder engagement. You will also work on wider internal communications activity including drafting content, supporting senior leaders across departments with their internal communications and engagement, with the potential to support on external communications activity also.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the delivery of HL's programme of events for HL colleagues and leaders to support our business transformation and engage colleague, but also deliver and support our wider Corporate Affairs department with community and external events where relevant.
  • Plan, organise, manage and execute a high-quality annual programme of events including colleague parties, atrium drinks, townhalls/conferences, leadership group events, awards and annual advisory conference.
  • Takes ownership of the end-to-end process of events management. From audience targeting and event communication, to event delivery and post-event analysis.
  • Work on content production from liaising with stakeholders on key messages, briefing design and video production, to Q&A preparation and rehearsals.
  • Manage internal stakeholders to provide progress updates on strategic events and delegate responsibilities to support the delivery.
  • Support the wider Internal Communications team through drafting a wide range of internal and external communications on relevant topics for our different channel mix including SharePoint, press releases, emails, posters and screens.
  • Ensure that sustainability, I&D and responsible business considerations are incorporated into our events and communications programme.

About you

  • Broad knowledge and demonstrable experience of leading engaging events.
  • Able to present and effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and confidence when leading working groups and meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A creative and proactive approach, always wanting to do things in the most engaging way.
  • Understanding of event tech for delivering in person, hybrid and online activities
  • Understanding of and ability to demonstrate HL values.
  • Ability to work well independently, in a team and prioritise own workload.
  • Ability to work well under pressure when required and adapt to unexpected circumstances.
  • Able to demonstrate clear and concise documentation and planning.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements and delivering events for a regulated business, ideally within financial services, but not essential.

Interview process

This role will be a two-stage interview process, consisting of a competency/behavioural based interview and assessment task.

Working Schedule

We are based in Bristol, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office.
