  • Salary: £18 - £20 ph

My client is seeking a Finance Manager to support the effective and smooth running of their Trust. This role is integral to ensuring the financial health and longevity of their schools. As a member of the Central Team, the Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in financial management and strategic planning, providing high-quality accounting services and promoting best financial practices.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Maintain awareness of the financial landscape for education and its implications for the Trust.
  • Provide bookkeeping and management accounting services to the schools within the Trust.
  • Produce monthly management accounts for the Chief Finance Officer, Headteachers, and Academy Governing Boards.
  • Undertake accurate accounting, monitoring, and forecasting to facilitate effective financial decision-making.
  • Support academy finance leads with accounting/system queries and provide guidance.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Finance Officer to address finance-related knowledge gaps across the Trust schools.
  • Assist in the annual budget setting process, offering support and challenge as needed.
  • Prepare for the annual external audit of the statutory consolidated accounts.
  • Stay informed about funding and legislative changes in the education sector, offering strategic financial insight.
  • Ensure adherence to financial procedures, controls, and policies.
  • Visit schools within the Trust regularly to deliver accounting services and develop a good working knowledge of those schools.
  • Contribute to Trust policy, planning, and the development of systems, policies, and initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in financial management within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and management accounting practices.
  • Ability to produce high-quality monthly management accounts.
  • Knowledge of financial procedures, controls, and policies.
