Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for Business Development Manager to join our passionate and driven team based at our client's site in Glasgow

The key objective of this role will be to build the pipeline and expand the customer base, target and secure tender opportunities and develop first class relationships with existing and new clients all within the MEP Sector of the construction industry in Scotland, with particular focus on Glasgow and the West.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying new business opportunities
  • Building client relationships
  • Leading strategic initiatives to expand our market presence.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, market needs, and potential clients.
  • Analyse competitive business development plans to achieve sales targets and business objectives.
  • Identify and prioritise target markets and potential clients.
  • Target and secure tender opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain first class relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Ensure growth and support business pipeline and opportunities.
  • Operate as a matrix management position between the Pre-Construction Director and Regional Director for the area.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in target companies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Sales and Proposal Development

  • Lead the preparations of proposals , bids and presentations for prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive pricing and contract terms.

Networking and Industry Engagement

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our services and identify new business opportunities.
  • Build a strong professional network within the MEP and construction industries.

Performance Tracking and Reporting

  • Monitor and report on business development activities and performance metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on progress towards business development goals..

Health & Safety

  • Ensuring all employees are aware of their obligations under the OCS Health & Safety Policy, and that work is carried out in accordance with the policy at all times.
  • Helping create and maintain a positive safety culture, leading by example at all times.
  • Ensuring that all health, safety and environmental incidents and complaints are reported and investigated and that action points arising from site safety surveys, audits, accident reports and other recommendations are successfully closed off.

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK

Mandatory

  • Prior experience and proven track record in the construction industry either from an Operations, Business Development / Pre-Construction, Commercial, Estimating or Professional Team background.
  • Strong understanding of MEP services and construction industry.
  • Excellent communications, negotiations and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Professional or Trade related vocational qualification.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Ability to think analytically, and an aptitude for creative thinking.
  • A high level of numeracy and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work equally well in team situations or on own.
  • Strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage and prioritise resources.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Receptivity and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to acknowledge and stay focused during periods of increased workload.
