Job description

Milk Education are working in partnership with an SEN school in Shrewsbury. This Ofsted Good school, is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to support the school in a range of sensory and therapeutic interventions and multi-disciplinary approach to meeting the needs of students. Students at this school have a diagnosis of Autism, Complex SEN and SEMH.

The successful candidate will believe in the importance for students to achieve their full potential and offer a rich and stimulating curriculum that supports student learning in a well-established special school. The role will include working closely with expert support staff, as well as building relationships with parents, governors and the wider community.

Non Negotiables for the SEN Teacher role

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Experience working with children with ASC, Complex SEN and SEMH
  • Understanding of the UK Curriculum
  • DBS on the update service

Areas to Succeed in the SEN Teacher role

  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • A good understanding of how children learn
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils' needs
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils
  • Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
