Are you ready to dive into a dynamic role where no two days are the same? At Staines PS, we're looking for a Process Technician who thrives in an outdoor environment and is eager to be part of a supportive team!

As a Process Technician, you'll be at the heart of our abstraction process, operating, monitoring, and maintaining all related equipment. Your role is crucial in ensuring that everything runs safely and efficiently. From sampling and valve operations to confined space inspections and basic mechanical maintenance, you'll tackle a variety of tasks and assist maintenance technicians with more complex duties.

What You'll Be Doing as a Technician:

  • Monitoring and inspecting equipment, following checklists for maintenance, and ensuring everything is operating correctly.
  • Quickly addressing defective equipment, reporting health and safety risks, and managing your workload effectively.
  • Operating safely around fast-flowing water and using a PDA device to log work.
  • Conducting reservoir water quality sampling with a powerboat and performing confined space work (training provided).

Please Note:

  • This role involves lone working, operating around fast-flowing water, and on uneven ground, with reservoir sampling and confined space work with shaft depths of up to 70m (training provided)
  • Flexibility is required to cover other sites for holidays and sickness.
  • Coverage Area: Approximately 50 miles, covering 45 sites.

Base Location: Staines PS

Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:36 PM. Standby rota is 1 week in 6, including Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, in return, you will have a long weekend with Friday and Monday off.

What you should bring to the role

  • Experience in similar roles isn't crucial; we value personality and a willingness to learn. Any background will be considered, and knowledge of the water industry is a plus (research is encouraged!).
  • Be enthusiastic about personal development and eager to learn about a new industry.
  • Prepared to undergo training in safety procedures, confined space work, and boat handling.
  • Computer data input experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential for driving company vehicles and covering various sites across West London.
