Summary

We're looking for a Head of Operational Delivery – Retail South to join our team on a 12 month FTC.

This opportunity will cover the southern region of the country, overseeing our retail operations from Norfolk to Kent and extending all the way to the tip of Cornwall.

You'll lead a team of Area Managers to deliver commercially successful retail operations, to delight our visitors and to provide a safe and compliant working environment for our staff and volunteers.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

Please be aware that this role will involve significant travel across the regions and countries in which we operate.

What you'll be doing

You'll lead a team of Area Managers to deliver a consistent, professional and successful retail operation. You'll understand all elements of your region and use your experience to identify best practice and opportunities to optimise performance. You'll seek out and engage with all stakeholders and will lead on regional Commercial meetings.

As one of two Heads of Operational Delivery in Retail and a further six colleagues across F&B and Holidays, you'll work as a close team, sharing best practice and leading on national initiatives on behalf of your peers.?You'll be known for your inclusive leadership and abilities to inspire and engage our wider teams to deliver not only our retail ambitions and goals but also our National Trust strategy.

By using your strong skills of influence and emotional intelligence, you'll build effective relationships within the wider retail teams, support functions, regional colleagues in operations and the wider consultancy to enable delivery of brilliant customer service for everyone and great retail experiences. Your experience in working within a matrix structure means you're adept at navigating a complex organisation, prioritising effort and communicating in a clear, compelling way.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience of managing a multi-site commercial operation with a focus on service and consistent standards
  • Proven leadership skills to inspire and drive performance through coaching and mentoring
  • Managing performance; setting, tracking, reporting on metrics and inspiring people
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to build relationships in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Commercial acumen, ownership of P&L, developing budgets and managing KPI's
  • Analysing data to produce insight which drives performance
  • Delivering change within a multi-site commercial operation
  • Resilience and tenacity, able to work under pressure and to manage complex situations and concurrent project
