What does the Biochip Formulation team do?

Randox is the 2nd largest manufacturer of Quality Control products globally. Diagnostic Laboratories are obliged to use these QC products to ensure the accuracy and precision of their processes and equipment used. Biochip Formulation is a key team within Randox, and it plays an essential role within the manufacturing, working closely with our formulation team - Biochip department focus on preparing antibody and associated buffers which are essential for daily manufacturing.

Location: Randox Site 4, 44 Largy Road, Crumlin, Co Antrim, BT294RN.
Contract Offered: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours / Shifts: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. 8:40 - 17:20.

What does the Biochip Formulation Scientist role involve?

This role is responsible for preparing antibody and associated buffers daily. Working closely with other sections such as spotting and assembly, you will be tasked with advanced operator planning.

  • Preparation of Antibodies and associated buffers.
  • Advanced planning of schedules alongside with your direct report.
  • Stock control - ensuring all raw materials are in stock.
  • Use of Sage stock control system.
  • Maintaining and monitoring assets and equipment within the formulation lab.
  • Calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Assisting the wider Biochip team.
  • Involvement with formulating new products in collaboration with R&D.
  • Meeting deadlines, per the manufacturing schedule.
  • Record keeping - Accurate completion of formulation records.
  • Ensuring the laboratory environment is always clean and organised and audit ready.

Full on the job training will be provided on our processes.

Who can apply?

This role would suit someone who has graduated in a Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or Life Science degree. who wishes to develop their career with a global diagnostic manufacturer. (Relevant experience within Medical Manufacturing also considered.)

Other Essential criteria:

  • At least qualified to Bachelor level in Chemistry or a Life Science degree.
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Good proficiency with everyday IT programs.
  • Eligibility to work within the UK
  • Flexibility around start and finish times when required due the nature of the formulation runs and schedule.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within a clean room environment.
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Experience using a stock control system, such as Sage.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Quality systems.
