Reed are acting on behalf of a prestigious school who are looking for a Deputy Finance Manager to provide financial and administrative support to their Director of Finance and to deputise in their absence. This role is integral to the efficient running of the Finance Office and requires a candidate with a strong background in financial accounting and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Deputise for the Director of Finance, ensuring the Finance Office runs efficiently.
  • Perform high-level financial accounting functions and procedures to trial balance.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and budget holders to prepare annual budgets and forecast year-end income and expenditure.
  • Operate financial management/accounting software packages and Microsoft Office suite proficiently.
  • Prioritise work to meet deadlines and manage unexpected demands alongside routine tasks.
  • Liaise with internal staff and external contacts such as suppliers, clients, and parents, maintaining tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Assist in maintaining the school's bank accounts and suggest improvements for greater efficiency.
  • Stay updated with current accounting processes and inform the Director of Finance of any significant changes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completion of intermediate level of ACCA/AAT Accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in financial management/accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring contracts, such as catering services.
  • Knowledge of tendering processes and credit control.
  • Experience in managing insurance policies and claims.
  • Ability to maintain a fixed asset register and conduct annual inventory checks.
