Learning & Development Partner - Housing

Posted by Southwark Council.

Are you ready to be the catalyst for change, shaping the future of our workforce in one of London's most dynamic boroughs? At Southwark Council, we're looking for a passionate Learning & Development Partner to join our Housing department—a role where your impact will be felt across the organisation. This isn't just another job; it's your chance to lead transformative learning initiatives that empower our teams and drive our Housing department forward.

You'll be at the helm of our comprehensive Learning & Development (L&D) program, collaborating with various services to design training solutions that meet both current needs and future aspirations. Your work will ensure that our people aren't just meeting standards but exceeding them, through innovative learning strategies that foster growth, adaptability, and excellence.

What you'll do:

  • Lead with Purpose: You'll be the driving force behind the implementation of the Government's Competence and Conduct Standard across our Housing Directorate, ensuring our teams are skilled, confident, and ready to make a difference
  • Design for Impact: Craft a detailed learning matrix that covers every role within the Housing department, aligning with the Council's workforce strategy and ensuring we're building a future-ready workforce
  • Blended Approach: through bespoke design of L&D Programs, commissioning and facilitating training
  • Transform Through Training: Plan, deliver, and monitor impactful training programs that don't just teach skills but inspire behavioural change across our organisation
  • Advise and Inspire: Provide expert advice to senior managers, HR, and Organisational Development colleagues, ensuring our learning initiatives are not only implemented successfully but also deeply embedded into the fabric of our culture.

How will you make an impact?

We're on the hunt for a dynamic Learning & Development professional who's not just experienced, but deeply passionate about nurturing talent and driving organisational growth; you'll need to bring a blend of the following:

  • A proven track record of designing and delivering business-focused L&D programs.
  • You'll need to have a strong grasp of the specific demands of Housing Service roles within local authority, public sector, or a Housing organisation.
  • The ability to align learning programs with both immediate business needs and long-term strategies, ensuring sustainable success.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and present actionable insights to senior leaders, helping shape the future of our workforce.
  • Skilled in designing performance-focused L&D strategies, systems, and procedures.
  • Able to cultivate relationships with third party L&D providers and collaborate on a broad range of online training and in person workshops.
