An exciting opportunity has arisen, as Hays has exclusively partnered with a fast-growing and well-established energy business to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their friendly and hardworking finance team based in Cheltenham. The role will be to support with Accounts Payable duties, such as processing of invoices, dealing with bank transactions, maintaining purchase orders and managing the accounts inbox.

Work hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm with a one-hour lunch break and the salary on offer is between £25k and £28k.

Hybrid working is offered in this role, allowing you to work 2 days on-site and 3 from home.

Your new role
As Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • To check, post and reconcile high volumes of supplier invoices, credit notes, statements, whilst also assisting the team with posting bank and transactional data
  • You will be involved in processing both stock and non-stick vendor invoices for payments, ensuring a three-way match between invoices, receipts and purchase orders
  • To carry out checks before onboarding and reconciling them upon request, ensuring any missed invoices or payments are identified
  • To liaise with internal and external stakeholders in order to rectify invoice discrepancies in a time-efficient manner to meet deadlines
  • As Finance Assistant, you will also perform various ad-hoc administration duties

What you'll need to succeed

  • To have previous experience in a similar role, whilst ensuring strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • To have worked within a team in a previous role
  • The ability to problem-solve and demonstrate analytical skills
  • Previous experience using MS packages such as Excel, Word, Outlook and experience working with an accounting package
