Anti Social Behaviour Officer ASB

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Anti-Social Behaviour Officer on behalf of our public sector organisation in East London.

The role will work in the Anti-Social Behaviour team dealing a caseload to reduce anti-social behaviour. You will link into the relevant partnerships ensuring an effective front-line response to reports of anti-social behaviour and crime affecting the borough.

This is an interim contract initially for 3-6 months with view for further extension thereafter, the day rate is £35 per hour PAYE.

  • Provide guidance, support and direction on complex ASB issues and lead on problem solving and action plans across the service and with partners
  • To support the organisation's ASB strategy and ensure all cases are dealt with swiftly and effectively in line with the community safety's service standards, through the use of preventative early intervention, enforcement and supportive actions
  • Form strong relationships both internally and with external partners such as the police to deal with cases of ASB and crime, ensuring there is clear coordination of cases and ownership of ongoing issues
  • To receive casework referrals from designated referral agencies, including the police and housing management, regarding serious anti-social behaviour, nuisance and harassment
  • To interview victims, perpetrators and potential witnesses of anti-social behaviour and ensure that the appropriate monitoring takes place
  • Take witness statements and provide effective witness support
  • Compile evidence through the use of surveillance and sound monitoring equipment
  • Assist in the preparation of legal paperwork
  • Present evidence if court as required
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders such as police, solicitors, social services, probation services, youth offending team, etc
  • Proactively identify and address vulnerability and safeguarding issues ensuring appropriate support and referrals are made
  • To reply to correspondence connected with casework and prepare reports as necessary
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of ASB, civil and criminal law and offer advice and assistance when required
  • To attend on behalf of the anti-social behaviour team, meetings of tenants and residents and community groups as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Previous ASB or community safety experience within a local authority setting or public sector organisation
  • Experience working on anti-social behaviour issues in an authority serving a culturally diverse community
  • Good knowledge of the current issues affecting community safety, local government in London and Anti-Social Behaviour Crime & Disorder and Police Reform legislation
  • Experience of community safety/ASB in a culturally diverse authority with multiple deprivation and complex social issues
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to anti-social behaviour in particular the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the Police Reform Act 2002, Criminal Justice, and Immigration Act 2008and ASB Crime and Policing act 2014
