Wastewater Production Operator

Berwick

£13.55 per hour

Full Time - Monday to Friday (overtime if required)

About the role
At Northumbrian Water we provide both water and sewerage services to 2.7 million
customers in the Northeast of England. This role focuses on our wastewater treatment
service, aiming to enhance and protect the environment, whilst also improving the quality of
rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of wildlife and the communities we serve. We are
excited to offer you the opportunity to join our team as a Wastewater Production Operator,
where you will play a vital role in delivering this essential service.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for operating and controlling
wastewater treatment works and pumping stations across the Berwick & Alnwick
patch. You will carry out routine tasks to ensure that our wastewater assets are
operating correctly. Daily tasks would mainly involve manual work including assisting
the Team with sampling and analysis of the Treated water to ensure it is meeting the
correct standards, identifying issues with equipment, and carrying out routine checks
on the assets.
You would be using data from company systems to identify trends in performance and when
issues arise, you will undertake fault-finding investigations with support from the wider Team.
During a normal day you will collaborate and communicate with a diverse range of teams to
ensure we maintain compliance with our regulatory obligations and protect the environment.

About you
We want to speak to people who can bring a good combination of technical and
interpersonal skills.
Communication is essential in this role therefore we seek someone who is an excellent
communicator, both verbally and written. You will be a good problem-solver allowing you to
respond quickly to issues, understand the problem, and identify the best solution.
We are looking for a team player who is adaptable to meet a varied workload and someone
who is also comfortable working alone with minimal supervision. You will be proactive by
nature and willing to make suggestions for improvement.
If you have good attention to detail, then we would like to hear from you. Monitoring the
assets is done via visual checks on site, computer systems and lab analysis, so an eye for
detail and ability to follow processes and procedures is required. You will be computer
literate and willing to use new Apps.
Our motto is "Everyone Home Safe Everyday" therefore awareness of health and safety
would be beneficial. You would be using company safety devices to ensure you have the
support and controls needed.

The role involves pumps and process equipment so any prior experience or working with
equipment would be advantageous, however this is not essential as training would be given.
The water industry is forever changing therefore you need to be adaptable in order to meet
business need.
If you are practical, pragmatic and enjoy hands-on problem solving then this could be a great
role for you. Please note you a full driving licence is essential.

A drug and alcohol test will be required before you start this role.
