Product Developer -Toys, Gifting 1month contract

The Company

Quest Search and Selection are proud to partner an Entertainment Provider working in their Retail business. The business creates bespoke retail, general merchandise gifts, toys and memorabilia for their retail and leisure clients!

The Role

Immediate start!! This is a new role to help the NPD/Sourcing team over peak in the Summer. As the Product Developer you will be involved in research, costing, development, managing of critical paths and stakeholder relationships within the business.

Key Responsibilities of this Product Developer -Toys, Gifting (1month contract) :-

  • Conduct thorough research and design innovative product concepts, incorporating branded artwork, for client presentations.
  • Take charge of day-to-day activities involved in product development, including concept creation, design, cost management and negotiations, sampling, packaging, testing, and adhering to budgets and timelines.
  • Monitor project critical paths and ensure that key milestones are met, enabling timely product launches.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager and Head of Category to optimize the commercial appeal of the product range while meeting client requirements.
  • Coordinate the Buyers & New Product Development (NPD) team to work closely with each factory, guiding the production process from concept to completion.
  • Continuously assess and select appropriate manufacturing partners, considering alternatives when necessary.
  • Overseeing the entire process from concept and brief to sampling and production. Managing the critical path at each stage and leading the Product Development team

Requirements for this Product Developer -Toys, Gifting (1month contract):-

  • Immediately available for a short-term contract!
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Buying New product Development or Sourcing experience.
  • You must have experience in Far-East sourcing and dealing with factories directly.
  • Experience of the toys, souvenirs, stationary or gifts sector would be desirable.
  • Excellent numeracy and Strong negotiation skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Project management qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience of working directly with non-UK factories is essential.
