It offers a wide range of courses to other undergraduates and postgraduates in line with emergent demand and the nature of these fast-moving, competitive disciplines. We have a solid track record of ground-breaking research, and in REF2021, nearly 2/3 of the School's research output was considered to be world-leading or internationally excellent. Computer Science at DMU is ranked 201-300 worldwide in the Shanghai Ranking and 301-400 in the THES World University Rankings due to the international nature and high relevance of its research. Alongside the university as a whole, we have huge ambitions for the future in terms of our offering to students and the quality and scale of our research. The Artificial Intelligence research area is concerned with one of the three research strands of the School and has contributed some of the most cited publications for the REF2021. The AI group has a strong track record in computational intelligence, data science and its applications to transportation, vision, medicine and game AI. The institute is a world pioneer in fuzzy sets, grey systems, and evolutionary computing.
