Procurement Manager

Our client who is a leader in the retail sector, is looking to recruit a Procurement Manager on a permanent basis. The role is predominantly remote, with travel to London just twice per month. The salary on offer is up to £60,000 plus a 20% annual bonus and benefits.

You will partner business stakeholders, providing a single point of contact and becoming a trusted advisor, working collaboratively across the organization to secure buy-in for sourcing strategies that deliver commercial value.

What is expected of the Procurement Manager?

  • Lead the end-to-end commercial activities for the category across the group, building strong partnerships with our strategic suppliers, making it easier and faster to do business, innovate and maximize value.
  • Ensure optimization of budgets through successful negotiation of costs, delivering quantifiable benefits, achieving targets and challenges set by the business.
  • Improve delivery assurance through negotiation and implementation of appropriate contractual safeguards that meet operational needs, mitigate risk and incentivize positive / collaborative partner behavior.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Group's Procurement Transformation Strategy.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to drive maximum value from 3rd party suppliers:
  • Identify and then execute a pipeline of savings opportunities across the category.
  • Define the long-term relationship strategy with key Spares & Repairs and Business Support partners, ensuring they become enablers of our strategic goals.
  • Develop, deliver, and manage effective sourcing strategies in support of the business transformation and wider change agenda, ensuring ongoing value for money and the delivery of innovative procurement solutions to our client.
  • Negotiate and contract for clear and certain delivery and commercial outcomes.
  • Deliver on annual cost saving targets against budgets in key Spares & Repairs and Business Support areas and across the wider group.
  • Support category reporting, savings tracking, and spend data tracking.
  • Utilize procurement systems to drive compliance of category spend to our client procurement policies, including contract storage and sourcing process governance.

What we look for in a Procurement Manager?

  • Strong category background and proven experience in a hands-on sourcing role of a procurement function
  • Ability to motivate, organise and manage self to deliver to challenging deadlines
  • Experience in retail desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of managing long term, complex, high value, high risk contracts
  • Strong networking and stakeholder management/influencing skills at senior level.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentational skills, able to communicate complex, commercial information to non-commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills, demonstrable experience in successfully developing and executing negotiating strategies, coupled with the ability to ‘sell' the approach amongst internal stakeholders.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills and ability to create associated schedules of legal agreements.
  • Proven ability to deliver substantial cost saving and service benefits.
  • Proven dynamic and self-motivating style, with energy and drive to deliver at pace and drive change.
