Teaching Assistant

Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant
Location: Chislehurst, Bromley
Start Date: September 2024

About the Role:

A vibrant and inclusive school in Chislehurst are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time starting in September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development in a primary school setting.

They are a Primary and Secondary SEN School (You will be placed in the age group that you feel most confident in).

This school caters for pupils with SEMH (Social emotional and Mental Health). This is a fantastic opportunity to build close relationships with pupils who come from a variety of backgrounds and situations.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in managing and supporting the educational needs of students, providing help with lessons and activities.

One-on-One Assistance: Work with individual students, including those with special educational needs, to provide tailored support and help them reach their full potential.

Group Activities: Supervise and engage with small groups of students facilitating activities that promote learning and social interaction.

Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, including managing behaviour and ensuring the safety of all students.

Preparation of Materials: Assist in preparing classroom materials and resources for lessons and activities, ensuring that all students have the tools they need to succeed.

Monitoring Progress: Observe and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and supporting the development of individual learning plans.

Support with Daily Routines: Assist students with daily routines, such as transitioning between activities and supporting their personal development and well-being.

Ideal Candidate:

Experience: There is no level of experience that is required. However it would be beneficial if you had experience supporting pupils that have been excluded or on the verge of exclusion. Alternatively pupils with similar behaviour traits.

Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Attributes: Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about working with children, with a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Knowledge: Understanding of the UK primary school curriculum and the needs of young learners.
