Datacentre Technician

We're a leading recruitment business, and we're on the lookout for a skilled Datacentre Technician to join our client's team. This is a critical role supporting Data Centre Operations, where you'll play a vital part in delivering top-notch service across all infrastructure and processes within the data centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 technical assistance and support to customers through a 12-hour shift pattern.
  • Install racks, housing, network, and computer equipment.
  • Manage and implement installations, including shelves, power strips, rails, cable management, and customer IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware or cabling issues, including replacing internal components and testing, tracing, and labeling cables.
  • Collaborate with global counterparts and third parties on hardware-related issues and processes.
  • Maintain high standards of tidiness, cleanliness, security, asset information, and installation within the computer suites.
  • Crucially, demonstrate strong patching experience to ensure seamless operations.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Computer engineering experience and knowledge for optimal working methods.
  • Cabling experience and knowledge for optimal working methods.
  • Experience installing rack mount kits, including HP and CISCO.
  • Hardware maintenance skills, including swapping failed customer-replaceable parts.
  • Highly motivated with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to drive operational efficiency through innovation, process improvement, and adoption of best practices.
  • Ability to think quickly and logically under pressure and effectively utilize others in problem-solving.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent team skills with the ability to actively participate in discussions and meetings.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to meeting their needs.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • ITIL Accreditation.
  • Experience with HP Service Manager 9 & Service Now.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Flexible approach to work.
