Facilities/Stores Team Leader - Pioneering Biotech

What will I be doing?

You will take the lead on the management of our client's stores, across all buildings. Working closely with finance, procurement and external suppliers to implement a consumables / lab stocks strategy, that supports business objectives and ensures best value to the organisation. Managing the day to day operation of the central stores, ensuring that all consumables and lab stocks are managed efficiently and tracked. Assisting the Facilities Director in providing facilities and maintenance support services to labs, their consumables, waste streams and environment, ensuring they meet the needs of the organisation and its employees.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Working closely with finance, procurement and external suppliers to implement a consumables / lab stocks strategy that supports business objectives and ensures best value to the organisation.
  • Managing consumables within the central stores and on behalf of each building on a daily / weekly basis, ensuring stock levels are managed accurately and no shortages occur.
  • Acting as deputy / point of contact for all Facilities related task and issues in the absence of the Facilities Director and the facilities co-ordinator.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively to all levels in respect of any supply issues.
  • Strategically managing product lines and exploring new opportunities for streamlining product lines and introducing new product lines where they can support business objectives.
  • Ensuring supplies are delivered and logged onto the NetSuite system / AMICI.
  • Overseeing and managing all waste streams within the organisation.
  • Engaging throughout the business to ensure all customers understand and follow facilities-related procedures.
  • Liaising with EHS to ensure waste compliance throughout all laboratories.
  • Supporting full compliance with permit to work system.
  • Maintaining Facilities Helpdesk, allocating tasks as per agreed SLA's, prioritising H&S.
  • Actively participate in the introduction and ongoing development of the company CAFM system.
  • Assisting the Facilities team with general day-to-day tasks such as office and laboratory moves, deliveries & removals.
  • Assisting with contractor control, ensuring the organisation is compliant.
  • Mentoring new employees within the facilities team when required, sharing experience and advising of best practice / solution.

What skills and experience are required?

  • Managed a small laboratory stores environment, with experience in stock / stores management
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Managed the disposal of clinical / scientific waste in line with regulations and company policy
  • Tested fire alarms, emergency lighting and water temperature and ensured full compliance
  • Driving License
  • Knowledge on supplier management and holding them to task
  • Negotiating skills
  • Demonstrative ability to plan effectively and deliver business outcomes

What else do I need to know?

This position is offered initially as a 6-month temporary role.
