We collect and treat the water that customers have used, returning it to the environment via rivers and coastal outlets. Our network includes 76,000 kilometres of sewers which feed over 1,000 water recycling centres. What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Regional Bioresources Manager, you will lead a Bioresources operations team at a single site. As the Bioresources Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all operations and maintenance activities within the Bioresources Treatment Centres and Water Recycling Centres are conducted efficiently and reliably. Your role is crucial in achieving performance and regulatory compliance targets, with a special focus on maintaining safety-critical equipment, including steam systems, biogas, and pressure vessels, to always ensure personnel and process safety.

This role is crucial to our mission of protecting the environment through wastewater treatment and producing renewable energy and high-quality bioresource products. These efforts support our goals for Circular Economy, Sustainability, and Net Zero. We are looking for a dynamic leader, who thrives on leading a team and possesses exceptional communication skills to effectively liaise with various teams.

Duties will include:

  • Lead an environment where both personal and process safety are embedded in our culture, driving and promoting compliance with Health and Safety regulations for employees and others.?
  • Ensure assets are operated and maintained in accordance with service level agreements and company policy?
  • Ensure that processes are operating to deliver performance that meets and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements such as UWWTD, Biosolids Assurance Scheme (BAS), Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and more.
  • Maintain financial control of individual site and team budget.
  • Ensure visible leadership and active management is carried out to enhance the quality of work undertaken by operational and support teams; including ensuring suitable resource levels maintained at all times.
  • Prevent or effectively manage operational incidents?
  • Develop employees by active coaching in the workplace to ensure compliance at optimum cost and maintain standards.?
  • Manage unsatisfactory performance as well as recognising and rewarding good performance
  • Establish and build relations with regulators and customers (includes EA, EH, H&SE; County, District and Parish Councils etc.)?

What does it take to be a Bioresources Operations Manager?

  • Ideally possess sound technical knowledge of Water Recycling and Bioresources Treatment processes and assets along with the associated Health and Safety requirements
  • Management experience within an operational role in the water industry or similar
  • Relevant health and safety qualification e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, Process Safety?would be desirable
  • Strong knowledge of H&S legislation and the management of this within the workplace
  • Sound leadership skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and persuade
  • Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management and people management skillset
  • Resilient and flexible approach to work, the ability to adapt to ever changing business priorities
  • Someone who can work both strategically and tactically- with proven experience in performance management
  • Full driving licence
