About the Role

Base Location: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness

Salary: £47,600 - £55,000 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As an Estates Surveyor within SSE's North Property Services Team, you will be responsible for the management of a mixed portfolio of freehold and leasehold property interests on behalf of the SSE business units. The main duties of the role include:

  • Providing SSE stakeholders, including senior managers with a professional advisory service covering all aspects of Corporate Real Estate operations.
  • Acquiring leasehold and freehold property, disposing of surplus assets and managing a varied portfolio consisting of office and industrial type properties.
  • Negotiating with landlords and tenants on lease renewals, rent reviews, exits, alongside dealing with business rates.
  • Managing the Property Services Team revenue and capex expenditure, working with finance colleagues to deliver budget compliance.
  • Delivering continuous improvement in performance, in line with the SSE Group's property strategy.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • A good understanding of Corporate Real Estate and an ability to contribute to a small team to achieve set performance objectives. Previous experience of financial management and achieving targets is key to being successful in this role.
  • A relevant associated degree and a minimum of two years post qualification experience, however, consideration will be given if you are planning on or currently undertaking the APC route, or are recently qualified. Ideally, you will also be a full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Commercial Property, Valuation or Planning & Development).
  • Previous experience of managing complex land and property transactions with multi-use/multi-occupancy issues is vital, as well possessing excellent negotiation skills and the ability to deal with conflict.
  • Experience with commercial property data bases and Microsoft software packages including Office 365.
  • Whilst based at one of our four centres, the role will require travel through-out Scotland, North of England, all of Ireland, and possibly abroad, as well as occasional travel to the Southern England. An ability to work under your own initiative and prioritise and manage changing workloads is therefore essential.
