Payroll Controller

Part time or full time hours to be considered, for example to fit within school hours or over 4 days

Flexible, hybrid working

The role:

  • Process the monthly Payroll for all company employees accurately and to strict deadlines
  • Deal with any queries or issues on finalising monthly payroll
  • Maintain and update Payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data, more specifically:
  • Taking responsibility for annual salary review integration into HR and Payroll
  • Reviewing, managing the collation and circulation of forms and correctly assigning the bonus instructions
  • Reviewing all pension requests (e.g. lump sum payments and additional contributions) during the review cycle and throughout the year
  • Assist with the management and chasing of Performance Criteria Bonus Schedules and reporting on progress
  • Prepare Salary Reviewers Guidance ahead of the annual performance review cycle
  • Process new starters and leavers in conjunction with the HR Team
  • Prepare, balance and print reports (Payslips, P60's, P11d's) and any other reports required
  • Confidently manage NI contributions, PAYE, pension and any other ancillary related payroll calculations.
  • Develop and maintain Payroll operations by creating and following policies and procedures; reporting and implementing change where necessary
  • Preparation of data and analysis of the data to comply with Gender Pay Gap reporting requirements
  • Produce Payroll data and analysis for internal reporting and external submission to HMRC and Pension provider
  • Manage the monthly manual pension contributions by creating new joiner files to action changes.
  • Liaise with pension providers to ensure appropriate information is circulated to scheme members and correct contributions are processed.
  • Health plan management to include; assisting with the annual renewal process and Medical Insurance
  • Managing communications to members on renewal
  • Support HR with compliance for starters and leavers
  • Manage holiday entitlements, ensure the smooth carry over of unused holiday to the next year and process the end of year holiday closing down procedure

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Previous experience with high volume and complex end to end payroll
  • A proactive approach to work
  • An effective team player
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships across the business
