Environmental Controls Engineer

We are seeking an Environmental Controls Engineer to join our Estates Services team. This role is responsible for providing and maintaining a comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors using building controls systems. The successful candidate will also define, develop, monitor, and report on operational performance metrics to ensure a quality environment and energy-efficient operations.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Monitor the building environment, liaising with end users to understand and address concerns, working closely with Estates Services colleagues to provide excellent customer service.
- Make or coordinate adjustments to ensure the ongoing comfort of students, visitors, and staff.
- Review and analyse building environmental management and energy performance using building management systems and other monitoring tools.
- Monitor and address issues with utility metering and data gathering systems, providing reports and recommendations for system changes.
- Take immediate action in relation to breakdowns in controls and metering, working closely with maintenance coordinators and direct works staff.
- Liaise with utility suppliers regarding metering issues and provide a calibration service for meters, gauges, sensors, and other instrumentation.
- Measure, monitor, and report on environmental conditions within buildings and provide reports with recommendations.
- Identify, develop, and recommend energy-efficient strategies for building controls and operations.
- Provide energy data for statutory, statistical reports, and for building and services systems performance monitoring.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in a management role relating to estates engineering services operating across a significant estate.
- Experience of managing Building Management Systems on a large complex estate.
- Experience in reporting on performance, making recommendations for strategy changes, and implementing these changes.
- Experience in identifying, developing, and recommending energy-efficient strategies for building controls/operations.
- Experience of working on and fault-finding in control panels.
