We are seeking a dedicated Transport Planner to join our clients Specialist Haulage team in Southampton. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the meticulous planning of loading and unloading cargo and freight shipments, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring high service levels from initial customer enquiries to job completion. This role is integral to their commitment to health and safety, and offers the opportunity to engage in various projects within a supportive and developmental environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Raise accurate quotes for loading and unloading of cargo and road transport to ensure department profitability.
  • Arrange all container and cargo movements, ensuring efficient bookings into internal and external systems while minimising costs.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Cargo Handlers team regarding the loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Organise equipment/cargo pick-up and collection with customers as required to complete jobs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for cargo-related and specialist haulage enquiries.
  • Negotiate and secure the best possible prices for purchases or services required.
  • Achieve customer service levels with all customers to meet or exceed agreed targets.
  • Finalise jobs on internal systems with accurate revenue and costs for invoicing processing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within shipping lines, port operations, haulage, or container handling operations.
  • Experience in working with abnormal loads is essential.
  • Knowledge of Road Haulage is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience with TOPS is desirable but not essential.
