Infrastructure Engineer (1st/2nd/3rd Line) – Circa £45K + Excellent Benefits - London / City Onsite
Overview:
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Infrastructure Engineer with a global supply chain and logistics company. This role is focused on supporting and maintaining the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance of critical systems.
The ideal candidate will have proven IT expertise ranging from 1st to 3rd line support, demonstrating the ability to work independently without assistance. This position requires strong technical skills and experience in handling complex IT tasks and responsibilities, ensuring seamless operations across all support levels.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assemble and configure PCs, servers, and network hardware across the office, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Provide expert assistance to users, swiftly resolving complex technical issues and improving their overall IT experience.
- Work closely with senior engineers, participating in advanced troubleshooting and gaining deep technical knowledge in a support role.
- Act as an escalation point for unresolved issues, liaising with the MSP and ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate hardware, software, and network issues for end users via phone, email, or remote access.
- Install, configure, and update a wide range of applications and devices, ensuring end users have the latest tools and technologies.
- Log, track, and document all user requests and incidents using an advanced ticketing system, maintaining meticulous records.
- Deliver comprehensive training and guidance to users, empowering them to effectively and securely use IT systems and tools.
- Handle various advanced IT requests, showcasing your expertise and problem-solving skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in 2nd/3rd line support roles within an enterprise IT environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, and Office 365 administration.
- Hands-on experience with hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, including servers, storage, and network devices.
- Proficiency in network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and cloud-based services.
- Understanding of IT security best practices and experience with security tools and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Package:
- Circa £45,000 Basic Salary
- Onsite – London, City (1 day flexible to work from home)
